道元の主著、正法眼蔵を建築に喩えれば、それはいま廃虚としてある。設計者は比類なき創意をもってこれを建てた。だが長い年月に亙って、遠くから仰ぎ見られることはあっても、住まわれることなく朽ちていった。どうしてもその本来の姿がみたい。あらゆるディテールに設計意図を読み、玄関や庭、障子や屏風をととのえ、訪れるすべての人に、覚めた世界を体験してほしい。
Using an architectural metaphor, Dōgen’s masterpiece Shōbōgenzō stands as a ruin now. Although the architect designed this house with an unparalleled talent and sophistication, and people in every age gave rich words of praise, it had scarcely a family to live, a guest to visit, left vacant for hundreds of years. My mission is to clarify the design ideas in every detail, restore the space including the entrance and the gardens, arrange the sliding doors and folding screens, and invite people to the architecture in its highest beauty.
